Formal Updos

When I first started doing updos, I had no training.  

Now with 30 years of experience and practice,  I have confidence to create updos that are beautiful. As a professional now, my clients leave happy! This makes me happy!

Well I have worked in 15 salons in the past 30 years.
Wow! I experienced some kindness and drama!
If you stay in the same town people will follow you.
If you move to a new state you have to start your clientele all over again! Waa Waa!
Life in a salon, there are rumors, gossip, laughter, jokes, bad hair cuts, good hair cuts, great hair cuts.  Prayers, compassion, friends, and enemies.

Having no lunch break we would eat a meal in 15 to 10 minutes.
Competition between stylist for space between salon chairs; bumping buns so to speak!
Hair is everywhere; in your shoes, pockets, and bra.
Clients who tip and those who never will.
The smell of different shampoos, remind me of different salons, I worked at.
Greeting clients so they feel welcome! Making sure there comfortable. Offering them a refreshment.
Comfortable shoes are a must for a hair stylist.
Skunky perms; smell like money!!
Some clients weren’t happy no matter what anyone could do!!
Everyone would like you to do their hair for free! 😦 
Make sure you keep your clients phone numbers. Just in case you move to a new shop in town.

Tapered Fade Hair Cut

I started with a #4 guard on my clippers and cut off the hair at the temples on both sides and the crown.

Then a #3 guard on both sides 1/2 way up to blend, then a #2 guard 1/4 of the way up to blend. 

I cut the top short, one finger width with my shears and cleaned up the edges with my t-edgers.

This cut is very stylish. As the cut  grows out it will look good for a long time. My son looks so adorable and definitely styl’in!!

Party Hair Style

Not too formal hair style for long hair. Tina wanted to wear her hair down for a big get together with family and friends. She is a nail technician. At work she always wares her hair up in a pony tail. She wanted to look nice and wear her hair down, so we decided on this style for her.

I used a med size curling iron. I started with sections on the bottom. I sprayed every strand with Joico firm hair spray. This will make it stay in. Your hands can get a little sticky but it works great. Then I back combed the crown for some height . After that I pulled up the front of her hair and crisscross with bobby pins to the crown of her head. So cute!!

Locks for Love

What a great gift my client gave! I cut 91/2 inches of his hair, that he had been growing out for almost 2 years. It was grown and cut for one purpose; for locks for love.

 

I measured it because it needs to be 8 inches long or longer to send it in; then wrapped it in a tight rubber band.

 

Then I cut it off. I think he lost some weight with all that hair gone!

 

Now he is going to grow it out, so he can give it away for locks for love again.

Prom Up-do

This was easy to do!

Jordan went to Prom last night! I did her up do.

I hair sprayed each section with Joico joimist firm hairspray.

Then curled large rotated spiral curls

I loosed her curls with my fingers.

I took a section from the crown and crisscrossed  some bobby pins to make a small bump.

 I took more hair from the top to go over the crown to make a bigger bump.

Then I bobby pinned it together and sprayed more hair spray.

I sure hope she had a great time!

Dark Hair Color

This color and cut is bold and eye catching!

 

 

I used 4N Vero color 20 volume peroxide ( roots 15 minutes and pulled through ends another 15 minutes) with a bleach pick-a boo strip on both sides. For the bleach I use color graphics with blue pigment and 22 promoter.

 

I cut the back in a lot of layers with a razor and kept  the front longer with very few layers. Then I used the straightening iron to style it out.

Jordan is going to look great for her graduation!

Razor Hair Cut

I did this razor hair cut on a new client today.  She had long hair and she loved her new style.  She had a picture of the cut she wanted and some other stylist were afraid to do it. I was happy to do it for her!

One side is short and the other is longer.

Stephanie is creative like me.  She makes her own jewelry like I do and dies her own feathers.  I can’t wait to see her died feathers and buy some!

I cut a lot off her hair today!!  She looked great and liked her new style!  I really liked her boldness and creativity!
