Homemade American Cooking


2 to 3 pound chuck roast

6 peeled carrots

1 pack button mushrooms

2 cups water

1 tbsp. oil

1/2 chopped onion

3 pressed garlic cloves

1 1/2 teas. Italian seasoning, and dried parsley

1 teas. sea salt, pepper, and Mrs Dash

2 low salt bullion cubes

1 packet brown gravy mix

Rub roast with oil and season with salt, pepper, Mrs. dash, parsley, and Italian seasoning. Brown roast on all sides in a skillet.

Clean and cut carrots, onion, garlic, mushrooms and add all to crock pot with water and bullion cubes.  Cook in crock pot covered on high for 5 hours.

After 5 hours take out cooked vegetables (leave meat to cook another hour)

Gravy: In a skillet put in cooked mushrooms, onion, and garlic.  Saute for a min. in 1 tbsp. oil. Set carrots aside.

Make 1 packet brown gravy mix as directed; then add an extra 2 cups of the crock pot fluid.  Simmer 7 minutes until reduced about 1/3 and thickened.

Mash Potatoes:

6 medium potatoes  cooked until tender

2 tbsp. salted butter

1/4 cup milk

Cut and boil potatoes until soft then drain water, add butter and milk, make smooth with blender.

Heat up a can of corn

Chop up roast; put back in crock pot in left over juices to keep warm until serving.

Make a plate! Serve with your choice of bread and butter. This is so good!!
